Petra Kvitova World No. 2

The World No. 2 Petra Kvitova aiming to clinch the Apia International 2012 championship, a WTA Premier tournament of the 2012 WTA Tour being played on hard courts in Sydney.

The 21-year-old Kvitova has played outstanding year at end of the year and clinched five WTA Tour titles in 2011 season. Czech Republic star Kvitova has bagged year ending’s WTA Championship in Istanbul, after beating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in three sets with a 7-5, 4-6 and 6-3 in the final. Kvitova said she has played some outstanding tennis on hard courts in Australia from several years winning titles at Hobart and Brisbane.

The Czech Republic top seed said she is having the most of the chances to lift the title here in 2012 Apia International and it’s a great opportunity to prepare well for the Australian Open. Kvitova hopes to lift the second Grand Slams title at Australian Open and she is one of the hot favorite to clinch the year’s opening Grand Slam.

Kvitova will face strong challenge against World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, Victoria Azarenka OF Belarus, Chinese top seed Li Na, 2011 US Open winner Samantha Stosur and Russian second seed Vera Zvonareva. Li Na will step out as a defending champion at the Apia International championship this year.
